This is Day 35 of my challenge to get a 6 pack.
Today marks five full weeks of this challenge.
I estimated it would take me six weeks to lose enough weight to be able to see my abs, which leaves me just one full week to lose the rest.
I have to be realistic here and say that I’m not going to make it.
No sad emoticons on display here though, only happy ones 🙂
I’m back to moving in the right direction and delighted to see that my love handles are starting to melt away.
Relish the challenge
This is back to being a challenge again instead of a ‘happening’. I’ve decided that I definitely do want abs. I’ve decided that I like the idea of having them. I’ve decided that I can be excited about it.
Why wouldn’t I be enthusiastic about the prospect of getting the kind of body I really want?
I’ve put in all this hard work over the last six months, so I’m going to push on with the challenge.
I have my sights set on the 27th March as the target date for completion of the challenge. That give me three full weeks to lose the fat and see what my abs look like.
If I can get a flat stomach in 8 weeks that will still have been a fantastic achievement and something to be proud of.
Sometimes I need to remind myself that I’ve chosen to do this in a sub-optimal way, so the results are bound to be slower.
Using push-ups to break a plateau
One of the deliberate things I built into my diet was holding strenuous exercise in reserve. I always felt I wanted to do that kind of exercise for fun, for a challenge or even to break a plateau (if indeed that’s what I’ve been experiencing lately). So over the last few days I’ve been doing anywhere between 50 and 70 push ups a day to add a little interest and to get my body guessing again.
I think it’s a good move. I’m not trying to build muscle or get stronger and I’m only going to continue until Friday when I’ll stick to walking as my only form of exercise. It will be interesting to see if it helps.
Using a tape measure to track my progress
One last thing… The tape measure has come out of retirement and was pressed into action this morning.
Just for comparison, here are the measurements I took at 205lbs (6 months ago)
I’ll measure again next Tuesday at the 6 week point and see if there’s any improvement.
