This is Day 42 of my challenge to get a 6 pack.
Can I get six pack abs in 6 weeks? That was the question I posed myself on February 1st.
6 weeks ago I set myself a challenge to lose the last of my excess body fat and get visible abs.
Having already lost 30lbs eating one meal a day I decided to continue on the diet.
I suppose it was always going to be a tough challenge because for several reasons it’s a sub-optimal way to lose weight – but it has been very successful for me.
I haven’t been working out, and beyond eating roughly balanced meals I haven’t been too careful with my nutrition.
I’ve continued to eat things like rice, pasta, bread, potatoes, pastry, meat, fish, poultry, sauces, cream, ice cream and chocolate, but I’ve also eaten good portions of fruit and vegetables.
In many ways I’ve been doing almost the exact opposite of what the ‘experts’ say I should do.
So, did I get a six pack in six weeks?
But I have done very well, and probably much better than many would have predicted.
I’m certainly not far away from achieving my goal which is amazing considering the method I’ve employed.
Last Tuesday I reverted to taking measurements because according to the scale, my weight loss had stalled, so I needed another way to track progress.
Chest : 38.5
Belly : 36.25
Waist : 35.5
Hips : 38
…and today I took the measurements again and I’m delighted with the results.
Chest : 38.25 Reduction of 0.5
Belly : 35.5 Reduction of 0.75
Waist : 35.25 Reduction of 0.25
Hips : 38 No change
The only place I didn’t lose was my hips, everywhere else saw a reduction.
I was so astounded that I lost 3/4 of an inch from my belly that I had to measure it 3 times just to make sure I hadn’t made a mistake.
My plan is to continue with one meal a day for another 2 weeks just to see how close I can get to a flat stomach on my sub-optimal diet.
This is me today Tuesday 13 March 2012
As I looked on Day 1
This me at 205 pounds
