Let’s get straight to the point… I want a flat stomach!

In fact I want to lose enough fat to get flat abs by Christmas.

I’m 43 years old and 6ft tall.

I’ll update this post regularly with progress pictures.

I’m still going to use the one meal a day diet to lose the fat and I’m currently writing about my weight loss here.

This photo taken 15 June is the lightest I’ve been as an adult. It was taken shortly before I took a break from the diet over summer. Although it isn’t connected to the current phase of my diet, I keep it here as my inspiration to get into the 160 lb range.

Thanks Bryan. I’m glad to be back to it with this much simpler format. I feel more motivated to do it now that I don’t feel obliged to write about it every day. 🙂

Hi there, Does this work well for females? I recently started doing 1 meal a day at breakfast but am realizing its not that practical (I am always invited out at night and for dinners). Can I join you? I recently lost 20 lbs on a 30 day juice fast, gained back almost half. I might consider adding in a juice in the morning (it is almost no calories if i just do a green juice) and a balanced dinner. I think posting here might help keep me accountable 🙂

Great job on losing the weight! I know you gained half back but you’re still better off, to the tune of 10 lbs!

Does this work well for females?

I don’t see why it wouldn’t. Some of the ladies who left a comment on THIS post seem to be enjoying success.

Yay im excited! I will start today. I had a green juice this morning.. I think maybe it has a touch of cals but its liquid which from my research does not turn on digestion so we dont get hungry, which i can vouch for after 30 days recently of just drinking juice lol. I anticipated this though and I ate like a little piggy last night :/ and the scale is not liking that. But i am legitimately starting today. I am worried i will go bonkers at dinner tonight b/c i def can eat. Do i need to count cals and all that stuff (loathe doing that but i will if i need to).. or is it more intuitive type eating?

Nik, that’s great and it’s brilliant that you’re excited about it. I think it’s much easier to do something like this if there’s a positive emotion associated with it.

If it helps you to know… I failed a lot in the beginning, but I didn’t beat myself up, I just kept tweaking it until I found a way to make ot work for me.

When I lost the initial 30 lbs I didn’t count calories but I know my progress would have been so much quicker if I had. I’m not counting them during this phase either – it might be a decision I later regret. We’ll see.

The only reason I might chose to do it, is if there was a likelihood of me under-eating, I think that can be a real problem – but there really isn’t much chance of me doing that… I like my food far too much. 🙂

Great job, Dave! Love that you’re taking measurements (wish I was that disciplined!)…..muscle weighs more than fat, and you sure are building those muscles! 🙂

Thanks Melissa! It’s funny, but so many people told me I would lose muscle eating one meal a day, but my own evidence seems to show I;m gaining a little. Which is pretty cool!

Up until 4 years ago 1 meal a day was rountine 4. It kept me in good shape and then my mom had a stroke and I went from 1 meal a day 2 snacks and 3 meals a day. Glad I found u and i hope n 2 get back on track on 1 meal a day. Now since Im a stay at home with nothing but time on my hand what 2 do with all that extra time? Lol I did it b4 I can do this.

Day 1 no time like the present 2 get started. Its nice to have a blog like this. Haha 1 meal a day was just my way of life b4 and 2 think its actually like a diet of some sort. Lol. Hope 2 report a loss nxt Sunday. Thanks 4 responding.

Delighted to have found this site. I started eating one meal a day after I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid and began taking medication. I lost 3 stone in about 9 months. I run most days and snack on a piece of fruit if I ever feel really hungry. One meal a day suits my lifestyle and affords me extras at Christmas and holidays. I prefer to feel comfortably empty throughout the day than uncomfortably full.

That’s terrific! 3 stone in nine months WITH an underactive thyroid is a great result. That’s an achievement to be proud of.
So many people would have used the condition as an excuse, but not you! You’ve taken control and made sure you stay in good shape.
I love it when I read things like this, so thank you for writing it.
