As I mentioned in yesterday’s post I’ve decided that June is the month to lose the last of my fat and finally get the abs I’ve been trying for.
I’m continuing to use the approach that helped me to lose 30 lbs – I’ll be sticking with my one meal a day diet, but with a twist.
When I lost the 30lbs I did so without throwing myself into strenuous physical exercise. I did it just by calorie control and walking twice a day for 30 minutes.
I believe that many diets fail because people try to tackle two major lifestyle changes at the same time and it’s often too much to cope with. I wrote a little about it here.
One of the things I said is that you should exercise for a challenge or for fun and not just as a means to lose weight.
So during June I’m going to have some big fun by setting a fantastic challenge.
June 2012: One meal a day, a marathon and 10000 push ups
By the end of the month I’ll have run a marathon – 1.5 miles at a time.
By the end of the month I’ll have completed 10,000 push ups.
The challenge will do a few things:
- It will keep my mind fixed on my goal
- It will burn a few more calories
- It will be fun
- It will give me something to feel good about every single day.

Weight: 173.2 lbs (Down 2.8lbs)
Chest: 39 (No change)
Belly: 35.25 (Down .25)
Waist: 35 (No change)
Hips: 37.25 (Down .25)
The biggest thing to note is the massive drop in weight – 2.8 pounds overnight! Clearly that’s not fat loss, something else is at play. It’s OK because it’s a phenomenon I’m aware of.
My new enthusiasm has helped me to stick rigidly to my eating plan, so I’ve had the best start I could hope for.
