Six Pack Abs by Summer: Day 11

This is Day 11 of my attempt to get a flat stomach by the end of June. I’m doing it eating one meal a day and I’ve set myself a challenge to do 10,000 push ups and run a marathon– 1.5 miles at a time, all by the end of the month.

I’ve got 19 days left to achieve my goals.

Today’s Stats:

June 11th 2012

Weight: 172.2 lbs (Down 1.2)
Chest: 39.25 (No change)
Belly: 34.5 (No change)
Waist: 34.25 (No change)
Hips: 37 (No change)

172.2 is a number I’ve never seen on the scale before. I must have been that weight at one point in my life as I was growing up, but as an adult I don’t remember being this light.

I stuck to the meal plan quite well today but I felt hungry more than I’m comfortable with. The children were at home last week so there was more opportunity for me to cheat on the diet. But now they’re back at school, it’s easier because there’s less food around during the day.

Today’s meal was simple but fantastic. Meatballs in onion gravy with mashed potato and mixed vegetables. I ate a very modest bowl of ice cream afterwards (a dangerous game to play because I have a weakness for ice cream).

365 push ups completed today, so I’m still on track to reach my target of 10,000. Only 5,935 to go!

I ran another mile and a half this evening in the wind and rain of Southern England. I’m glad that I went because it means I only have another 7 runs to do in the 19 days remaining.

BTW (ignoring the quality of the picture (taken with my phone) I think this has to be one of my favourite photos so far. I’m starting to see what’s under the fat!

True inspiration Dave. I read your updates and want to get off my bum.
Keep them coming, maybe I will finally come around.
So are your shoulders and elbows holding up well with all the pushups?
I know mine gave me a little trouble when I was only attempting to do a couple hundred a day.

Bryan, thanks! By far the biggest problem I’ve had has been with the heel of my hands being sore because they’re constantly bearing the weight and strain of the push-ups.

I have been a little sore in my shoulders but I think that’s a little to do with poor form. I really have to watch my form toward the end of the day when I’m cranking out the last few.

Other than that, I’ve had a trapped muscle in my back from the start – but I’m not making it any worse so I’ve chosen to push through it and endure it.

It helps that I’m keeping on top of my daly average. Doing 350 push ups is MUCH easier than doing 650 push ups! LOL
