Six Pack Abs by Summer: Day 30

This is Day 30 of my attempt to get a flat stomach by the end of June. I’m doing it eating one meal a day and I’ve set myself a challenge to do 10,000 push ups & run a marathon– 1.5 miles at a time, all by the end of the month.

I’ve got 0 days left to achieve my goals.

This is the final day of the challenge and whilst I haven’t achieved my goal of getting flat abs (it was always going to be difficult to do in just one month anyway), I have achieved my other two goals.

It seems astonishing to me now to say that I’ve done 10,000 push ups, but it’s true.

I pushed out the final few about 1130am and it felt amazing, not least because I finished in the most memorable way. I couldn’t have scripted it better. I wrote about it here.

I also finished the last stage of my ‘marathon plus half marathon’. I ran a total of 39.7 miles and finished with a sprint. Not bad for a 43 year old man!

I’ll have a couple of days off to rest my body and my brain (believe it or not, it’s mentally taxing!) and I’ll get back to the task of losing the belly fat on July 2nd or 3rd.

There are no stats today… my tape measure is still lost 🙁

Update: My weight on 1st July is 172 – Giving me a loss of 4 lbs for the month.

4 lbs for the month is spot on – they say a pound a week is the best way to do it, especially when those last few pound are so hard to shift. Well done! Re all that other stuff (the exercise) – sorry I can’t relate to that but I’m glad you are happy.

Thanks, I’m pleased with the outcome.

I still believe it’s better to tackle diet before exercise, and I would never advocate doing something crazy like I did. No one needs to do 10,000 push ups – there’s probably limited benefit to it, but I wanted to fnd out what would happen. And what happened is: I ate more, I cheated more, but I had a lot of fun. Would I do it again? No way!! LOL
