This is week 4 of Be Grateful Every Day. It was a project I started on another blog and I thought I’d give it another try over here.
Last week I was grateful for many things and I listed them all in the comments, but actually what I really want to say now is I’m grateful to Xujazi for posting a comment about a flatulent dog:

It made me smile and that smile got passed on to all my children and they passed it on to their mother… and it eventually came back to me.
What are you grateful for today?

Today, I’m grateful for a smile that made its way from my side of the pond, through your family, and then back to me. Thank you so much for this delightful blog. (My four-legger is less gassy, but still entertaining.)
Thanks again! And I’m glad the dog is less pungent.
MONDAY: See above.
TUESDAY: Today I’m grateful for gloves. It’s been snowing here in the UK and there’s a fierce wind making it even colder. Even with the gloves my fingers are like icicles, without them, I’m sure I’d have frost bite.
WEDNESDAY: I’m grateful when things just fall into place. I had to get a time sensitive task completed today. The odds were against me and all was looking lost, but then I made a few phone calls and it all started to come together. If you were to press me for why it all came together, I would say it’s because I was lucky enough to chance upon some very nice and helpful people who put themselves out out me.
THURSDAY: today I’m grateful for hand cream. I’ve been digging a big pile of dirt out of the back garden. It was billed as a rockery but was in fact just a mud pit for the kids. We’ve had some lousy winter weather here so my hands have been constantly cold, wet and muddy… and frankly in a shocking state with big red blotches and cracked skin. The handcream seems to ease the discomfort. Not very manly, but hey.
FRIDAY: I finished digging out the rockery today. It was a huge mound of earth. So today I’m grateful for my spade. It’s certainly one of those items it’s easy to take for granted, but I certainly couldn’t make one for myself. I’m lucky that I live in a part of the world where these things are easily made and cheaply bought.
SATURDAY: Today I’m grateful for the burger I had for lunch. There was a 70th birthday in the family so we all got together at a restaurant to celebrate. There were lots of great choices on the menu but the one thing I really wanted was the burger… and it was delicious. Simple pleasures, eh?
SUNDAY: Today I’m grateful for the half eaten bagel that my six year old daughter presented to me as ‘breakfast in bed’. She’d nibbled away at it on the way upstairs and thought I wouldn’t notice. So cute!
