Share Your Little Victories

“Victory is won not in miles but in inches. Win a little now, hold your ground, and later, win a little more.” ~ Louis L’Amour

Sometimes it’s helpful to take a brief moment and delight in life’s little victories.

It’s these small steps that take us towards our dreams.

Celebrating the small wins helps us feel connected to distant goals in the present moment.

Openly sharing your triumphs and breakthroughs helps you to keep the momentum going especially if someone else throws up a ‘high  5‘ , a “well done!” or a 🙂 – It doesn’t take much, just a quick acknowledgement.

These little victories are important and are not to be trivialized by you or anyone else.

Feel a pride in the positive things you do that move you forward… and absolutely take a little time to  feel good about yourself.

I’ll start:

My little victory

Today should have been a school day, but the school is closed and my kids are at home. That’s not a problem except it’s not great for my diet. I’ve been on a one meal a day diet for a while now, so I don’t eat lunch on weekdays (only weekends), but the temptation to eat what I’ve just prepared for their lunch would be tough at the best of times but for some reason today it’s overwhelming. My little victory is that I stuck to my diet and resisted the temptation. It feels good.

So how about you?

It doesn’t have to be diet related like mine, it could be something to do with your home business, the housework, a personal breakthrough, or anything that matters to you.

(I’ll leave a link to this thread in the sidebar for easy access.)

Any little victories you’d like to share?

I went for the whole of Sunday without checking my email account. Instead I did some personal writing that I wanted to do and spent time with my family!

My 10 year old son has little business making toffee sauce, gingerbread and chocolate. Today I managed to make the time to create and print out some labels for his goods, so that he could take them to a craft fair this evening. He was delighted. That was a particularly sweet little victory!

I lost my phone yesterday. I thought I’d thrown it in with the recycling which was collected before I could check. The only other option was that I’d lost it while walking the dogs in the woods but I checked the woods yesterday and couldn’t find it.

I was back in the woods this morning walking the dogs and every now and then I’d glance down looking for the phone. At one point in the walk I stopped dead in my tracks, backed up three paces, took a slightly different path and there infront of me in the leaf litter was my phone!! A real needle in a haystack.

The victory? Finding the phone for a start, but more that I didn’t have a meltdown after losing it and I kept myself open to the opportunity of finding it.

A milestone came and went and I didn’t even notice it at the time. I’m the lightest I’ve been for 20 years! I’ve been trying to lose around 30lbs for years and haven’t quite managed it but my latest attempt is the best ever. Today I weigh 178.6lbs and that is 5lbs lighter than my previous best. Now THAT is something I feel proud of.

Man! What a week I’m having. The tumble dryer broke, I sliced my finger when replacing a blown bulb in the car, I lost my phone (and found it again) and today the beautiful low winter sun dazzled me and I clipped a parked car smashing my headlamp and damaging the other car. There were a few other things too but I’ll spare you the details.

Back in the bad old days the car accident would have been the last straw. For sure I would have had a minor meltdown and withdraw from life. Not now though. Today I was cross for about half an hour and then got on with doing things that matter.
